From Abrandtandson.com:

“Elephant hair jewelry originated thousands of years ago as part of ancient African mythology. Elephants, known for their massive size and magnificent presence, were believed to be the only connection between the Earth and the Heavens. The tribesmen incorporated elephant hairs into their jewelry to bring them love, keep them strong and safe from harm, and ward off potential sickness. Elephants naturally and continuously shed the thick hairs from their tails, which are then collected and used to create wearable pieces of art. This African tradition is still continued in the present day, without posing any harm to the revered animals. However, fine Vintage and antique pieces of elephant hair jewelry are especially rare and very collectable!”

Please note: Items in my shop are thoughtfully collected with wearability and longevity in mind. That being said, all items are sold "as is". I will do my best to describe any imperfections or signs of wear in each piece. Please keep in mind that most of the pieces in my shop are very old and should not be worn everyday (and especially not while at the gym, gardening, or swimming). Caution should especially be taken when wearing delicate gemstones like turquoise, pearls, emeralds, or opals. Please pay extra attention to photos as they serve as part of the description.
